Left DU/Primacy to see what else was out there and learn something different. At the time I wanted to build software.
I missed the team, work life balance, great leadership, great people to work with and came back as VP, Tech, Openbook
VP, Tech operations, primacy/DU
I always had an interest in technology; started coding at an early age
Received a degree in Computer Science and then started to work in the field
What I like about Technology is that it is always changing so you always need to be learning.
On the job learning has been the largest contributor to my growth. At Primacy, there's a breadth of industries and types of projects available. The project-based work model allowed me to learn quickly.
Having great leadership and employees available in supporting my career development.
Don’t just see problems, see opportunities. Take ownership and work outside your scope of role.
Take charge of your own journey – be the master of your fate
Don’t be afraid to reach out to leaders for advice, etc.

Ask questions, listen actively, and learn from those around you.
Find a mentor who challenges and supports you—and be that for others as you grow.

President, Mediate.ly
First job: Marketing research associate at Rolling Stone & US Magazine in NYC.
Major pivot: Joined the Peace Corps in Mali, W. Africa for 2½ years.
Entrepreneur Period: Built catalog company called African Market.Sold to Chicago Tribune in the dot-com boom.
Full circle: Returned to publishing as Marketing Director and Associate Publisher at National Geographic and Smithsonian, respectively.
Met Stan: Joined Acsys as an Account Director, then became head of Account Services.
Acsys renamed to Primacy (2011). I and led Account and Marketing teams, then focused on Marketing specifically and then launched Mediate.ly (2017).
Moved to Florida and focused exclusively on building and leading Mediate.ly.
The path chose me for the most part.
When I met Stan and joined our organization, I was very energized by the company and excited at the chance to build out our marketing capabilities. I learned from my colleagues every day. I also had a young family and Primacy was a great place for us to really lean in and commit.
Programmatic media was truly taking off, and we had a team member (Andrew Latzman) who opened my eyes to the opportunity of a standalone programmatic offering. Stan backed the business plan, Andrew Perry joined me and off we went.
I truly enjoy creating opportunities for clients to use media to connect with audiences. As technology and access to data evolves, the challenge and opportunity does too. I continue to learn from my colleagues and the industry every day.
The path chose me for the most part.
I built a foundation from a variety of experiences, from working in NYC on $18k/yr, building wells and gardens in Africa, to building my own company. I still rely on the confidence and skills I gained from these diverse opportunities.
Stan (and Deb Peterson – former HR) gave me countless opportunities to build and grow at Acsys/Primacy/Mediate.ly. There’s tremendous flexibility and opportunity at DU, though you have to lean in.
Aside from my extremely talented colleagues who continue to push my growth, my husband and sons are my number-one cheerleaders.
Identify areas where you can truly contribute to the organization and begin building your path. There is an abundance of opportunity at DU, but you often have to seek it out and align it with your strengths. Be proactive!
Try different things, go new places, talk to more people, read.
